Last day of summer, then school begins...

It was a sad-ish day around here. The girls were pretty excited to go to school this morning, which was a big improvement on yesterday morning when Orianna had a meltdown because she wanted last years teachers, last years class, and everyone in her new class was going to hate her. I love that kid. And her insecurities. Although I wish for her sake she didn't have them. Well maybe I wish that a little for my sake too. Insecurites make her terribly dramatic.

Last night in our family photo session. My two sweet school girls. Wah!

Bookbags all ready to go. Complete with the family tree project I realized I never finished. But I had been organized enough to print the pictures off, so the actual completion took me 5 minutes. Not counting how long it took Justin to go over to Mom and Dad's at 10 PM and get my diaper bag that I left there after meeting that had my organizedly printed out pictures in it.

My girls and my little monkey jammy boy.

Sweet Autumn Clematis, it is finally blooming!

Contortions to see if the bus was coming yet. We were ready 20 minutes early, which is not a situation my kids find themselves in often. We didn't know how to handle it.

So we stood...

And got nose blowing instructions from Daddy to save the clean hem on her second t-shirt of the morning. Somehow or other, the hem of her shirt is her favorite place to clean her nose. We are hoping to change that.

Climbing on. It is a new bus driver this year, which made Orianna sad. But there were no complaints about this new one.

Looking out the window--

--to see my brokenhearted boyo who wanted to go with his sisters. This made me cry as much as sending my two darlings away for the day.

But it was a good day. We snuggled Elsie in bed for a few hours this morning to make up for our incessant busyness for the past few weeks. And there were mashed potatoes for lunch. Aprons to wear, little people all to himself, milk to drink, and naps to take.

I think he will survive the school year on his own. But he would rather have his sidekicks around.

Sweet, sweet girls! And such a sad Gilbert! My heart breaks for the friendless child. Although all the Little People to yourself is pretty sweet compensation...

Lucky teachers to have such wonderful kids in their class!

I simply cannot aBIDE the sight of Gilbert in such deep, heart-rending sorrow. Sigh...

Oh, and it was only because Cheyenne asked if I could "homeschool" her yesterday that we remembered to start on her elaborate first-day project before bedtime last night. (It was decorating a paper bag [we never have them] and filling it with things that told about her.)
