Trying to get an Alexander cousin picture.
It was difficult.
Charlie wanted none of it.
Abilene hugged him in an attempt to make him stay.
The Vaughan cousins of the Alexander side

Aren't their dresses gorgeous together?
Charlie having a go at the tire swing
Charlie was sparing with his smiles when there were all these strange people around.
But those smiles are worth waiting for!
Watching things.
How did my girls get so grown up??
Youngest and oldest together.
How did Cheyenne get so grown up?!
Abilene wasn't perfectly cooperative with pictures. But she is cute all the time.

Mom's cousin Alice and her husband Nolan came for a visit.
More wading
So much for Elsie keeping her cut foot clean.
Sigh. More neosporin for her!
Feet AND hands can get clay all over them.
Happy day!
Hoyt is an enthusiastic wader. He wades in water up to his chest. We kept telling him to stay in the shallow water and to keep his clothes dry. Pretty sure that ship has already sailed, but...
He finally acknowledged us by hitching up his pants one quarter of an inch as he stood on the grass clumps out of the water.
I love his earnestness in keeping his soaking wet pants from the water.

Gilbert really, really wanted to dive into the foot and a half foot water.
The kids called this "water boots." It was a favorite.
These two are inseparable.
And finally, at the end of a busy, family, birthday filled weekend, Abilene conked out.
Sweet pumpkin!
