Heading to Stockholm and our airbnb

On Tuesday morning, we got up early to make the 7:30 ferry from Aland to Krapellskar. Since we had been sleeping in until around 9, getting up around 5:30 to get ready and pack and be on our way was not all that popular of a thing to do.

It built character.

I took a quick picture of the town square in Mariehamn as we were leaving. This must be gorgeous in the summer with everything green!

Our delightful breakfast on the ferry. We ran into one of friends on the ferry, so we got to visit her during the two hour ride.

On the ferry, we had a great big breakfast and then hit open water. Everyone's stomach felt topsy turvy, so I handed out Dramamine to everyone. Which knocked them out completely. As we were getting off the ferry and driving into Stockholm, there was a lot of muttering about why didn't I tell them it would make them tired and everyone wanted a nap RIGHT NOW.

Actually, finding the airbnb was a teensy bit tricky. The house number was not really given, so we drove around the block about three times before doing a little foot work at the house Lindsey thought it was originally. Which turned out to be correct. We should all probably listen to Lindsey more.

So instead of sightseeing, we went to our airbnb and found beds.

(But first, lunch.)

Except this airbnb was so cute and clean and lovely that we had to stumble around sightseeing in the house, exclaiming over everything before finding our beds.

Our clean, non-cat hairy beds!

The pristine furniture with no cat hair!

The wallpaper!

The lighting!

In case you can't see, that is a monkey holding a small light bulb in the corner. So quirky.

Our airbnb was in Tallkrogen right next to the subway line with a nice walking/bike trail to take us there. It was ideal.

And so comfy for sleeping....

There was a fire alarm in this house, so I didn't need to stay awake all night making sure it didn't burn down.

Lindsey was very clear about the fact that I was going to sleep. "If there isn't a smoke alarm, we are buying one immediately." She also made me take an Ibuprofen PM. I think it was from the same bottle she had on our trip down the Alcan several years ago when I had a panic attack in a sketchy hotel in the Yukon at 2 AM. Lindsey is pretty aware of how I get when I am not sleeping very well. She likes to avoid that possibility at all costs.

And even thought I hate taking medicine at all, the Ibuprofen PM did the trick--I slept like a baby and was all ready for the world again the next day.

Thank goodness for older sisters.
