When we got to the lodge after lunch and a parade, a lot of work had already been happening. Anthony had already had 20 some pies and cheesecakes done.
He also had several large pots of beans on the stove, bubbling into goodness!
The views!!!
Everyone had to get out and explore. It was a pretty fabulous place! I think there were 12 cabins and the huge main lodge house, so there was plenty of room for the whole Vaughan and Douglas family to spread out!
Making music, Philip and Wayne
Wedding favors--tiny little bottles of Evan and Justin's maple syrup--were quickly finished with labels and twine
Anthony's pots of beans were so large that regular spoons didn't stir well. Improvisation!
Working on pie crust and filling
I mostly wandered around and took pictures and did little real work. I am that kind of person.
The dock
The water was pretty cold, the beach rocky, and the wind unexpected, but everyone had fun paddling around. And the rocks!!! I think all the kids collected about 94 each for their rock collections. There was definitely some volcanic rocks, pumice, multi-colored, deep orange, striped.... oh, they had fun!
Three amigos overloading a kayak
Justin decided to do a headstand on a SUP.
He almost had it, but then Lily bumped into him by accident.
Whoops!
But then he got it!
Not to be outdone, Philip and Owen tried to show us their synchronized kayaking skills, but they were lackluster.
Inside the lodge was a great pool/pingpong table. It was WELL used.
Silverware do-ers.
Making up a new game with the pool table.
Cool fringe on the back of chairs
Kara, working like a beaver, making things awesome!
Admiring the pie table
The kids adored jumping off the lodge deck. Like a lot.
They also loved sticking tape on each other.
This is Amanda's niece Charlie. Isn't she adorable?
Hanging out, getting to know each other.
A herd of dinosaurs in the grass. There were a lot of dinosaurs crawling around this weekend.
Elsie and Hoyt hadn't seen each other in two weeks, so they were pretty thrilled to be together again!
A dark picture, but here is Anthony, the Lord of the Pies
The finished table full of pies
The pie chefs
When we heard Cody and Amanda were only a few miles out, we all piled out into the front yard to wait for them.
And here they are!
A lot of excited nieces and nephews running to hug them.
Cody decided to drive his Oldsmobile to tow the pig roaster through the Rocky Mountains. This meant his car kept overheating. So they arrived a little later than planned.
But what would a Cody Vaughan wedding be without a car mishap story involved?
The posse
Cousins, together again!
Beginnings of wedding set up!
More music
Lovey-doves
While we listened to the music, we kept checking the road, seeing if the next batch of relations had shown up yet.
Singing on the deck
Grown up Cheyenne-girl
Dusky music
Gilbert charming the girls
Cody and Amanda
Everyone wanting to hug Cody and Amanda.
They are quite popular.
The young boys didn't have much time for singing in the dark. They had pool games to play.
Delightful sunset
Getting the brisket ready to rub for the next day's roasting.
The bride and groom pies
Late Friday night in the kitchen--everyone who was supposed to be there was finally there. So much hugging, talking, laughing, and being together.
